Our story
Back in the early 2000s, Richard Pratt began leading worship for the youth of Trinity Community Church in Sunward Park, Boksburg.
A few years later the Powells get involved - first it was Shanna who joined the team to play guitar, and soon after her brother Luke joined on keys and their father Richard joined on bass.
Fast-forward to 2011 and CrossRoad formed with Luke on keys, Gavin Towsen and Ryan Holmes on vocals, the two Richards on guitar and bass, and Jonathan Digby on drums. With Luke and Richard Pratt writing their own songs, the band began travelling from church to church in the area to share their music.
Soon the band was recording albums and singing their songs far and wide. In 2016 an invitation to the USA allowed the guys to play for Christian brothers and sisters overseas for the first time.
2018 saw Luke enter the pastoral ministry, first in the Methodist Church while training, and later with the Church of the Nazarene. CrossRoad's ministry changed from travelling to churches on Sundays to leading worship at Luke's local church, while travelling to other churches for events such as Sunday night services, church breakfasts, fellowship groups etc.

Luke’s talent on the keyboards is a vital part of the CrossRoad make-up. Luke is a minister at Boksburg Church of the Nazarene. He is married to Shereen.

Richard’s guitaring brings a distinct rock element to the band’s music. His musical knowledge and song writing ability are the platform upon which CrossRoad was formed. Richard is married to Mandy.
